David Kinney joined Alter Surety Group in late 2025, bringing nearly two decades of expertise in contract surety underwriting and client development. With a strong background in finance and risk management, David plays a key role in expanding ASG’s footprint throughout the Southeast by delivering tailored bonding solutions and strategic guidance to contractors and developers.

A graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Finance, David began his career in 2006 with The Cincinnati Insurance Companies, where he spent 16 years underwriting a diverse portfolio of contract and commercial surety bonds. During his tenure, he developed deep expertise in financial analysis, contractor evaluation, and relationship management — helping both agents and principals achieve long-term growth and profitability.

In 2022, David joined AmTrust Surety Group, where he managed a growing book of business and implemented refined underwriting processes that enhanced efficiency and responsiveness across the organization.

At Alter Surety Group, David draws on his extensive underwriting background to deliver proactive, solutions-oriented support for clients navigating today’s evolving construction landscape. His approach emphasizes partnership, transparency, and long-term relationship building — hallmarks of ASG’s service philosophy.

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, David relocated to Birmingham, Alabama in 2012, where he lives with his wife and their three daughters. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and engaging with his local community.
